EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Jonathan Quick's lateral movement is undeniably impressive. Just ask the reporters and team employees who approached his locker for an interview earlier this week, only to watch the Los Angeles Kings' All-Star goalie quickly pivot and back out of the room with remarkable agility.
AMHERST - New University of Massachusetts football coach Charley Molnar hoped that inviting alumni back to play against the varsity would give the current Minutemen an unfamiliar opponent, and connect the program's former players with the present and future. That part of Saturday's spring football game appeared to be a rousing success. The alumni defense featured three former All-Americans as Kole Ayi, Khari Samuel and Jeremy Robinson all suited up. Robinson provided the hit of the game as he lined up varsity wide receiver Chase Danska for a pretty good lick.
COLUMBIA, MO. - The University of Massachusetts softball team had eight hits in the first seven innings but could not score, and Illinois State scored the only run of the game on a wild pitch Saturday night in the NCAA tournament Columbia Regional.

Give the Atlantic 10 credit. Not many conferences can lose a flagship institution and not miss a
beat. But the A-10 certainly comes out of the current run of conference
realignment looking like a winner. Faced with losing Temple, which has been a banner carrier for the
conference, and Charlotte, which has solid basketball history, the
Atlantic 10 went out and got two schools that were in the 2011 Final
Four: Virginia Commonwealth and Butler.
It looks like VCU isn't spending one last year in the CAA. CBS Sports reported and other sources have confirmed that Virginia Commonwealthy is not only joining the Atlantic 10, but doing so for the 2012-13 school year.
There's a press conference about to start at VCU announcing the move followed by a teleconference after that.
