Look Park hosts 'Lawnathon' fest

NORTHAMPTON - Look Park will convene a festival Saturday showcasing safe lawncare practices. The Lawnathon Festival runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with games, children's entertainment and workshops.

Paul Dunphy joins Select Board in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG - Paul Dunphy easily became Williamsburg's newest Select Board member in an uncontested race to fill the seat vacated by Jeffrey Ciuffreda.

Of the 1,837 registered voters in town, 136 turned out to vote in Monday's election. Dunphy garnered 134 votes.

Williamsburg to get new selectman

WILLIAMSBURG - This year's annual town election has no contested seats, although there will be a new face on the Select Board once ballots are tallied.

Haydenville resident Paul Dunphy is running to fill a seat on the board formerly held by by Jeffrey Ciuffreda, who decided in April not to run for re-election.

Hilltown Charter declines lease on vacant Center School in Hatfield

HATFIELD - After several months of negotiations, the Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School has given notice that it will not lease the long-vacant Center School at 58 Main St. because the cost of renovating the building is too high.

Hilltown CDC loan key to affordable housing grant

CHESTERFIELD - The Hilltown Community Development Corporation took a step toward obtaining a $2.4 million housing grant last week when it was awarded a $75,000 pre-development loan from the Boston-based Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation.
