Trial over boating death in Huntington scheduled for June 18

NORTHAMPTON - The trial of a Westfield man accused of killing a 10-year-old boy with a boat in Huntington is set for June.

The August 2010 boat crash claimed the life of Augustus "Gus" Adamopoulos of Ludlow who was fishing from a kayak with his father on Norwich Lake. The father, James Adamopoulos, 53, was also hurt.

Police arrest Westfield suspect in Amherst post office pot bust

AMHERST - A Westfield man who police say has been receiving packages of marijuana at an Amherst post office was released Tuesday on $5,000 bail.

Timothy M. Mahoney, 31, was arrested at 11:45 a.m. Monday at the 145 University Drive post office on a charge of possessing a class D drug with intent to distribute. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Eastern Hampshire District Court.

Westfield police kill man who attacked officer after 911 call

WESTFIELD (AP) - Westfield police say an officer fatally shot a man who stabbed another patrolman even after he had been struck by a Taser. The Springfield Republican reports that Douglas Musto, whose residence is not known, was shot in the hallway of an apartment building early Saturday morning. According to a 911 call, his ex-wife called police as Musto tried to break down her door.
