Hadley teen badly hurt in Northampton bicycle accident

NORTHAMPTON - A Hadley teenager was listed in critical condition Sunday afternoon at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after suffering life-threatening injuries in a bicycle accident Saturday evening, according to the Northwestern district attorney's office.

 · James Edward Erwin, 28, who provided an address as the streets of Northampton, was arrested Sunday at 10:11 a.m. on Main Street on a charge of domestic assault and battery after he pushed a woman in the face, police said. The woman didn't need medical attention, police said.

Police join Northampton DPW probe; report of gun also investigated

NORTHAMPTON - An internal probe into alleged wrongdoing in the Department of Public Works Water Division has widened and now involves city police, who are investigating the circumstances that prompted the suspension with pay of two workers last week.

Florence incident leads to pepper spray, arrest

NORTHAMPTON - Northampton Police resorted to pepper spray to subdue an Easthampton woman who allegedly attacked an officer as he was trying to arrest her.

AMHERST - Ashley Goetz wanted to write. In 2011, she left her job as director of marketing at a Minnesota retail firm, uprooted her life and moved to Easthampton to pursue a master's degree at the University of Massachusetts. At the time of her death she was working on two novels.
