Fire extinguished at home under renovation in Huntington

HUNTINGTON - It took 30 firefighters from five area towns about an hour to knock down a Friday afternoon blaze that damaged a home in the midst of renovations.

Huntington Fire Chief Gary Dahill said the cause of the fire hadn't been determined, but it appeared to be electrical in nature.

AMHERST (AP) - Amherst's fire chief says three college students his firefighters had to rescue from the roof of a campus building are "idiots" for wasting his department's time and money.

Amherst Chief Walter "Tim" Nelson says he intends on sending bills to the Hampshire College students rescued at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Probe into Worthington arson focuses on two men in black truck

WORTHINGTON - Investigators say they are looking for two men in a black pick-up truck in connection with a fire at a 24 Old Post Road home Tuesday that has been officially ruled arson. The men were seen outside the home when the blaze broke out.

AMHERST - The town this week welcomed three firefighters back home after tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Thomas Messer, William Messer and Reed Frailey recently returned to work after serving since last summer with their Army National Guard units.
