Deerfield voters approve borowing for highway garage

DEERFIELD - By a 265-231 vote, voters Monday approved a Proposition 2½ debt exclusion override to borrow $4.9 million for a new highway garage.

The garage, at a total cost of $5.9 million, was approved by a two-thirds majority at town meeting last week, but borrowing for the project required the vote on Monday's ballot.

Deerfield approves $12.56 million budget at Town Meeting

DEERFIELD - Two consecutive evenings of voting have delivered approval for a new highway garage, tombstone restoration, a patch for a zoning bylaw loophole and the town budget.

The meeting extended to two days because of the length of time devoted to discussion of the highway garage at the special town meeting that took up much of Monday evening.
