AMHERST - Ashley Goetz wanted to write. In 2011, she left her job as director of marketing at a Minnesota retail firm, uprooted her life and moved to Easthampton to pursue a master's degree at the University of Massachusetts. At the time of her death she was working on two novels.

Three vie for two Belchertown Select Board seats

BELCHERTOWN - Two incumbents and a former longtime selectman are vying for two open seats for Select Board Monday.

There is also a race for the Board of Assessors in the annual town election, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Belchertown High School.

Victim in fatal Belchertown crash believed to be UMass grad student Ashley Goetz

BELCHERTOWN - The Northwestern district attorney's office has tentatively identified Ashley Ellen Goetz, 26, of Amherst, as the victim of a fatal crash Monday night on Route 202 in Belchertown.

Relatives confirmed Goetz died in the crash. Her obituary described Goetz as an English instructor and creative writing graduate student at the University of Massachusetts.

Fiery crash on Route 202 in Belchertown kills 1

BELCHERTOWN — One person was killed in a fiery crash on Route 202 Monday night that left many area residents without power. The Northwestern district attorney’s office, which is in charge of the investigation, released no information Monday on the identity of the deceased. Officials were awaiting identification of the body by the state medical examiner’s office before they could notify the victim’s next of kin.
