Police search for reported gunman on Route 10 in Northampton
NORTHAMPTON - State and local police descended on the house at 321 Easthampton Road this afternoon after receiving a 911 call stating that a man, possibly armed with a handgun, was attempting to break in.
According to Northampton police Capt. Scott A. Savino, at about 12:30 p.m. a female caller told the dispatcher that a male dressed in a hoodie-style sweatshirt and armed with what she believed to be a handgun was attempting to break in at the home.
There was no report of the suspect leaving the area in a vehicle, Savino said.
Savino said the suspect fled in an unknown direction and no further description was given.
State and city police and a K-9 unit responded to the scene, but were unable to provide any information.
The incident remains under investigation, Savino said.
